In Malaysia, a consortium led by Beta Renewables and Hock Lee Group has signed an MOU to conduct a feasibility study for a plant that will be a catalyst for a biomass-based industry cluster for Malaysia. The study emerges as a result of the National Biomass Strategy 2020 initiatives. “Such a cluster is expected to increase the state’s GDP as well as create high-value jobs by attracting high-value partnerships with local companies that will also benefit local SMEs, smallholders and local communities,” said Agensi Inovasi Malaysia (AIM). The study will be complete by the fourth quarter of 2013.
