Boosting ethanol production in Mexico would ease sugar surplus

In Mexico, various stakeholders from government to sugarcane producers are talking about how increasing the ethanol blend could help reduce the country’s huge sugar surplus, considering falling sugar prices and internationally and a saturated US market. Though potable alcohol production has long been a staple for PEMEX, it doesn’t yet produce ethanol. Mexican investors have launched a company based in Veracruz called Bioware that is meant to come online the end of 2013 or the beginning of 2014.
