Malaysia’s B5 mandate may be too late for many producers

In Malaysia, the move to boost PME blending to B5 may have come too late for some palm oil producers, as only 11 of 21 palm oil biodiesel producers are currently operating. Labor, which accounts for roughly 30% of PME production cost, is about a third higher than in Indonesia where biodiesel is sold at around $100 per metric ton below Malaysia’s.
