Indian oil companies contracting half billion liters of ethanol for October

In India, Oil Marketing Companies have so far issued 218 letters of intent for 320 million liters of ethanol and purchase orders for 290 million liters of ethanol in order to comply with E5 blending that is set to be mandatory nationwide from Oct. 1. Already 23 million liters have been received by the OMCs. Though the mandate is nationwide expect for disputed areas and islands, the government will also allow a slower transitional phase for regions that do not have much ethanol availability.
