REA calls on MEPs to support biofuels industry in ILUC vote

September 9, 2013 |

In the UK, the Renewable Energy Association is calling on MEPs to support the UK and European biofuels industry by voting against a cap on the use of agricultural biofuels. The vote in the European Parliament is set to take place this Wednesday. The Commission’s proposals to address ‘indirect land use change’ (ILUC) would put at severe risk not just climate change and renewable energy targets, but also hundreds of millions of pounds of investment in the UK. This investment is driving technological advancement in manufacturing and agriculture and creating essential skilled jobs in areas of previous industrial decline such as the Humber and the North East.
