Brazil may import up to 1.5 billion liters of US ethanol during inter-crop

September 30, 2013 |

In Brazil, ethanol imports from the US may reach 1.5 billion liters during the next inter-crop season starting in December. JOB Economia says that up to 20 million metric tons of cane may be left in the fields unharvested during this current crush. Despite the lack of capacity to crush the 600 million tons expected during this season, with about 586 million tons likely to be processed, the local analysts expect the 2014/15 season to expand by 30 million more tons.
