Most of Appomattox Bio Energy plant headed to UK but silo stays home

September 30, 2013 |

In Virginia, the grain silo from the former Appomattox Bio Energy ethanol plant will remain in the area thanks to Scoular Co. leasing it from Appomattox’s new owners. The rest of the plant is being shipped to Grimsby, UK where it will be used for wheat-based ethanol. Scoular recently bought R.O. Mayes Grain Co. in Petersburg in July and will use the silo to store grain for regional and international trade.
