Guernsey looking to add excise tax to biodiesel

October 15, 2013 |

In the UK, Guernsey island is looking to add excise tax on biodiesel in response to increased demand, like is done in the rest of the UK. The island’s local biodiesel producer, however, is against the move. Guernsey Bio Diesel uses used cooking oil as a feedstock and the fuel is found both at the pump as well as is used for home heating. The company was assured when it started business that excise duty would never be levied on biodiesel, as doing so would put the company out of business.
