Darling approved to purchase rendering and biodiesel business

In Canada, Darling International has been approved for their $620m purchase of Maple Leaf Foods’ rendering and biodiesel business, Rothsay. The Competition Bureau, Canada’s competition watchdog, revealed in a statement that it concluded the deal would not substantially lessen or prevent competition. Rothsay operates six rendering plants across Canada and a biodiesel facility in Quebec.
