Ethanol discount to gasoline widens as ethanol production picks up

In Illinois, the corn harvest is finally picking up across the Midwest, meaning that ethanol production is back in full swing. The increased supplies have led to lower prices and widening of the discount with gasoline. On Wednesday the spread reached 84.88 cents per gallon after ethanol production was higher than analysts expected, coming in at 911 barrels for the week ending Oct. 25.
