Algasol Renewables launches first commercial project, in Egypt

November 3, 2013 |

In Egypt, Algasol Renewables announced the launch of its first commercial algae project. Led by Biodiesel Misr, based at the First Industrial Zone in Giza, the project will convert algal biomass to biodiesel to meet growing local demand. Biodiesel Misr will grow and harvest algae biomass on up to five hectares in PBRs manufactured and supplied by Algasol. As the project scales to five hectares and beyond, algae biomass may also be sourced from Algasol’s South African facilities.

Mahmoud Abo El Rokab, CEO of Biodiesel Misr, said, “Algasol’s PBR system was the missing link and solution we needed. Their growth platform is the most cost-effective means to cultivate algae biomass and meets all sustainability criteria.”
