Biofuels Digest Index slumps to 65.14 as advanced biofuels, ethanol get slammed

The Biofuels Digest Index, an index of publicly traded biofuels stocks, dropped 1.82 percent to 65.14 as advanced biofuels and ethanol were slammed. For the day, Solazyme (SZYM) plunged 15.27 percent to $8.77 on news of delays in its Brazil project, while Renewable Energy Group (REGI) soared 10.45 percent to $13.00. Among other equities, Biofuel Energy (BIOF) crashed to $1.45 after a takeover offer heightened fears of a shareholder wipeout. Overall, declines and advances were even for the day.
