In Spain, the government has declined to give import quotas to Argentine biodiesel exporters, but perhaps they have another reason to do so than just competition with cheap imports. Apparently, last Friday Spanish customs intercepted a shipment of 57kg of cocaine diluted in 227 liters of Argentine biodiesel. The total shipment was 1,000 liters, which was allegedly a test by drug smugglers to see if the transit route would work. It didn’t, however, because the plans were discovered by Argentine customs services who collaborated with the Spanish side to intercept the shipment after it arrived in dock.
