Rotterdam ethanol price falls to 40-month low and seen heading lower

November 14, 2013 |

In the Netherlands, falling demand for ethanol and successively slipping offers without any takers has seen prices crumble to a 40-month low at EUR519 per cubic meter. Ethanol supplies are rising due to the two giant wheat-based ethanol plants coming online in the UK mixed with E48 imports from the US. Since the UK plants run on wheat rather than corn, the floor prices is seen higher than it would be if the UK production was corn-based.
