French supermarket giant launches abattoir-waste biodiesel plant

In France, supermarket giant Mousquetaires has opened the country’s first biodiesel facility using abattoir waste as a feedstock. The company is also the third-largest meat processor in the country as well as second-largest fuel retailer. The $54 million plant in Havre is expected to produce 75,000 metric tons of biodiesel annually with GHG reductions of around 83%.
