EU slaps 25% duty on Argentine biodiesel, 19% on Indonesian

November 25, 2013 |

In the EU, the European Commission has begun imposing anti-dumping duties on biodiesel imports coming from Argentina and Indonesia. The rates hover around 25% for Argentina and 19% for Indonesia, and will apply for five years. The policy follows the conclusion of a 15-month investigation which found that Argentine and Indonesian biodiesel producers were dumping into the European market.

“The EU is open to Argentinian and Indonesian exports but we should not stay idle and tolerate structural raw material distortions,” said a Commission spokesman. “We are glad the Council [of Ministers] adopted the Commission proposal which is based on an objective investigation in line with World Trade Organization law. Now we can be reassured that our green energy sector is not under threat and will continue developing to the benefit of all Europeans.”
