In California, the California Ethanol + Power sugarcane and sweet sorghum project planned for the Imperial Valley may at last start breaking ground on its ethanol distillery during the first quarter of 2014. As of last week, all of the building permits are in place. The UK’s Booker Tate has analyzed the spot, saying it’s potentially 50% more productive than in Brazil because of the weather, its capacity to grow and harvest year-round, and access to irrigation from the Colorado River.
