European refiners may blend more ethanol thanks to low prices

In Europe, while the future of the trading bloc’s biofuel mandate hangs in the balance, refiners may choose to boost the amount of ethanol blended in gasoline thanks to a $1.08 per cubic meter premium due to nearly 40-month lows for ethanol prices. Gasoline prices in Germany have hit a five-week high, so adding more ethanol may reduce prices at the pump.
