41 scientists send letter to EPA warning about forests for biomass power

In New York state, 41 scientists sent a letter to the EPA warning the agency that not all biomass is created equal and that the promotion of forests for use in biomass-fired power plants is far from the same carbon “neutrality” as using switchgrass or other harvest residues. In fact they argue that using whole trees for biomass releases more carbon than coal.
