European Energy Research Alliance’s Joint Programme for Bioenergy taps Carrasco as new chief

In the EU, Juan Carrasco has been elected as the new Joint Programme Coordinator of the European Energy Research Alliance Joint Programme for Bioenergy.  From January 2014 onwards, Juan who is based at CIEMAT in Spain takes over from Kai Sipilä of VTT, Finland who has successfully led this Joint Programme since 2010. He will be leading the EERA Bioenergy Joint Programme for the next two years. Carrasco is currently scientific coordinator of the CEDER-CIEMAT Biomass Programme and possesses over 25 years’ experience of co-ordinating, managing and organising R&D groups focusing on: Energy crops; Solid biofuels characterization; Evaluation of sustainable biomass resources;Biomass pretreatment; Solid biofuels combustion behavior; andethanol from lignicellulose processes.
