Brazil set to keep ethanol ratio high in next crush as 2013 ends with 54.6%

January 14, 2014 |

In Brazil, mills used 54.6% of the cane crop for ethanol in the season that end in December, up from just over 50% during the previous crop. Total ethanol production hit 6.7 billion gallons, up 19% on the year. Analysts expect the trend to continue in the season that starts in April because sugar prices are below the cost of production for many. Twelve mills are still crushing, down from 115 that crushed during December.
