Ohio R&D company trialing in-field second gen biofuel production facility

January 23, 2014 |

In Ohio, Battelle Memorial Institute is piloting its small-scale second generation biofuel plant that can be transferred directly into the field to avoid costly biomass collection and transportation. What is produced can then later be refined by other technologies into the fuel products required. The pilot facility can be transported on an 18-wheeler and can process 1 ton of biomass into 130 gallons of crude bio-oil per day.
