In Missouri, the National Biodiesel Board says it expects diesel consumption to account for 70% of all transport fuel growth through 2040.
“While gasoline engines are becoming more and more efficient and alternatives are quickly expanding in light duty, the story is a different for heavy duty,” NBB spokeswoman Jessica Robinson told the Digest.
The NBB said that its goal for biodiesel is to reach an average blend rate of 5% in the US by 2015, followed by 10% in 2022. The 5% blend equates to 1.88 billion gallons of biodiesel. Natural gas vehicle market share is expected to grow from 1% to 4% in the same period.
