In Illinois, ethanol shippers are working to avoid the rail bottleneck in Chicago that has built up over the past several weeks following extreme winter weather. The backlog of shipments has forced delays across the nation not just in ethanol but in a wide variety of commodities. The impact on ethanol trade has been especially hard-felt as markets on the coasts wait longer periods to receive the shipments. Ethanol is being shipped to the east coast via Arkansas just to avoid the bottlenecks in Chicago.
