Brazilian mill starts harvest early to head off El Niño

In Brazil, Grupo Virgolino de Oliveira said it’s starting its cane harvest early because of fears that an El Niño weather pattern may be development that could later negatively impact its harvest, and therefore ethanol and sugar production. The group harvests 10 million metric tons of cane annually.
