Ethanol imports force Midwest margins down nearly 20% on the week

In Illinois, ethanol imports are lowering the price of ethanol to such an extent that it is having a heavy impact on profit margins for Midwest ethanol plants. Platts is reporting that margins fell to $1.6313/gal last week, down nearly 20% on the week. Ethanol prices hit an eight-year high the last week of March.
