North Dakota energy beet project still trying to get farmers to commit

April 29, 2014 |

In North Dakota, Green Vision Group says farmers west of the Red River Valley interested in growing industrial beet for ethanol production want to see more economics on the proposed project and more “commitment” before signing on to committing 30,000 acres to the project. Research is on-going by Syngenta, Betaseed and now SESVanderHave along with NDSU to test beet production capacity beyond the traditional Red River Valley beet-growing regions. The exact site of where the Green Vision plant will go still has to be determined, and only when a grower-led group is formed can it seek federal grant money to push the project forward.
