UK’s Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive seen boosting biomass demand

May 22, 2014 |

In the UK, the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) launched in April that seeks to encourage households to switch over to biofuels from gas for their heating needs. The policy is aimed at helping the country achieve its 2020 renewable energy goals. Challenges in the supply chain exist, but it is expected there will be a major uptake of biomass pellets in the coming seven years of the incentive program.
