China suspends all imports of US-produced DDGS

June 9, 2014 |

In China, the country’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has suspended import permits for US-produced DDGS, effective June 6, because it deems “too high a risk” the inclusion of MIR 162, a GMO corn variety China hasn’t approved. So far about 600,000 metric tons of US-produced DDGS has tested positive for MIR 162 and is being held at ports, and is likely to be returned.
