Biodiesel plans for Rwanda still on hold

In Rwanda, plans to scale up a successful biodiesel pilot project to commercial scale of 48,000 liters per day is still on hold pending implementation of policies, sourcing of funding and development of feedstock. Though the country has been eyeing biofuel production since 2009/10 when the draft policy was submitted for approval, the process to get it in place has been dragging behind, which is frustrating farmers who have planted oil seeds but now have no market to supply.
