UN draft document for application of UNFC-2009 to renewable energy resources open to comment through Sep. 12

In Europe, the UN draft document, “Generic Specifications for Application of the United Nations Framework Classification for Fossil Energy and Mineral Reserves and Resources 2009 (UNFC-2009) to Renewable Energy Resources” is open for public comment through September 12, 2014. The purpose of the document is to enable the application of UNFC-2009, incorporating Specifications for its Application, to renewable energy resources.The draft, recently finalized, was created by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s Renewables Task Force of the Expert Group on Resource Classification.

The Task Force limited its initial work to focus on the development of generic specifications and is now turning its attention to the development of renewable commodity-specific specifications for bioenergy, geothermal, hydropower, solar and wind.
