Oil and rail industries want seven years to retrofit rail cars

In Washington, the oil and rail industries are pushing back against proposed regulations that would require them to retrofit tank cars that transport volatile liquids, including ethanol. The federal government has proposed a two-year timeline to retrofit the oldest cars, while the industries are pushing for up to seven years, saying doing it faster will result in transportation delays due to the lack of cars available.
