Kenya’s GreenChar producing smokeless briquettes from cane waste

In Kenya, GreenChar is producing smokeless briquettes for cooking from sugarcane waste, cassava peelings and other agri waste. The company is co-located with a sugar mill, giving it direct access to its primary feedstock and also pay farmers $5 per ton for their agri waste. It is currently fundraising on Indiegogo for $20,000 to expand production in order to meet growing demand for the briquettes.
