Indonesia’s E1 blend seeing ethanol flow rise to a trickle

October 15, 2014 |

In Indonesia, the government’s plans to introduce a 1% ethanol blend has hit snags during implementation, but 10 months late it is finally making progress. The state-owned energy company Enero has sold 25,000 liters of ethanol to the state-owned oil company Pertamina. Though other ethanol producers were invited to tender in April, the volumes sought and the distance from the distilleries to the Pertamina blending terminal were such that it wasn’t financially viable. It is expected the deal was done at up to 77 cents per liter.
