India’s Prime Minister calls for talks on ethanol blend

November 18, 2014 |

In India, the Prime Minister’s office has called for a meeting on Wednesday with food and oil ministry top officials to hammer out an agreement on ethanol blending. The new government wants an E10 blend, an E5 is currently on the books, but oil marketing companies have only managed to reach about E2. Delays in getting excise permission as well as a major price gap between what the mills want and the OMCs are willing to pay are among the key challenges that need to be addressed.
