German ethanol consumption down in September but E10 blending up on year

In Germany, September consumption of ethanol for direct blending fell 3.2% on the month to 85,156 metric tons, down 3.8% on the year. As a result, the blending rate was just 5.2% compared to 5.5% in September, yet somehow E10 consumption was higher at 15.4%, compared to 14.9% in September 2013. Total consumption for E10 in 2014 through September was 2,149,969 metric tons, compared to 2,056,782 during the same period last year.
