In the UK, start-up Faradair has launched a Kickstarter project for about $100,000 to help fund the first R&D stage of its Bio Electric Hybrid Aircraft that will run on solar and biodiesel. The plane, expected to retail around $1 million each, holds six people and is a Triple Box wing designed for lifting capability, not speed. The aircraft will utilize twin electric fan motors delivering 200hp (horsepower) each, in combination with a 200hp bio-diesel generator that incorporates a pusher propeller protected within a duct to reduce noise and to increase safety.
