DEFRA shows 85% of UK biofuel consumption is imported

In the UK, a new report from DEFRA shows that about 85% of the biofuels consumed in the country are imported. Ukraine was the largest supplier during 2013/14 at about 185 million liters of corn-based ethanol. The US also exported 60 million liters of corn-based ethanol while France exported 71 million liters of sugarbeet-based ethanol, compared to just 57 million liters of domestic beet ethanol.
