US District Court invalidates four of GS CleanTech’s corn oil patents

December 4, 2014 |

In Indiana, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana has ruled against GS CleanTech in a case the company had mounted against 17 ethanol plants and manufacturers of ethanol production equipment who the company claimed had violated its corn oil patents. The judge ruled four of the company’s patents invalid because it said the company offered the invention for sale more than one year before filing for the patents, another party had already filed for a patent on the same technology, that the patents were obvious and that the company had failed to name the correct inventors. GS CleanTech plans to appeal the ruling.
