Up to $11 million available to help Chicago gas stations switch to E15

December 9, 2014 |

In Illinois, the ethanol industry and the Chicago Lung Association are offering $11 million to gas stations to help them transition their pumps to E15 if the full city council approves a measure to mandate the blend city-wide. The policy has been watered down from its original version, giving stations 360 days to comply with the new rule—if approved—rather than 180 days, while gas stations retailing less than 850,000 gallons per year, as opposed to a 500,000 gallon threshold previously proposed, would be expect from the policy all together.
