Buckeye Terminals sues West Sacramento after scrapping ethanol rail permits

December 22, 2014 |

In California, Buckeye Terminals has sued the West Sacramento City Council in Yolo Superior Court following the council’s refusal to renew the company’s rail transport permit for ethanol tankers. The city claims it is too dangerous for ethanol tankers to sit unattended near residential areas, while the company claims it is too dangerous for residential areas to have the four-fold increase of tanker trucks required to transport the ethanol instead of the rail cars.
