Spiritwood Energy seeking $1 million to connect rail loop to BNSF

December 24, 2014 |

In North Dakota, Spiritwood Energy Park Association—a partnership of Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. and Great River Energy—is seeking $1 million in order to fund a loop to connect to the BNSF rail line. The group has already paid $500,000 but needs to pay another $1 million by March 31 in order to be connected to the main line. The manual switch will be installed by then and then an automated switch that will be controlled from Ft. Worth, Texas will be installed later in 2015.

Grant funding and seeking approval from GRE’s member cooperatives would take too long, so JSDE may have to end up paying for the investment itself, boosting its ownership in SEPA to 75%.
