Surplus of 1.2 billion D6 RIN production in 2014 seen

January 6, 2015 |

In Texas, Argus expects ethanol producers to have generated 1.2 billion D6 ethanol RINs more than necessary under the proposed RFS for 2014 that would require just 13.01 billion gallons of ethanol to be blended, if the 2014 RFS is approved as proposed. Of biodiesel RINs, there is likely a surplus of 1.3 billion RINs but some those should be absorbed by demand for advanced biofuel RINs, which are short due to lower Brazilian sugarcane ethanol imports during the year.
