New substation should boost bio-power supply from Brazilian sugar mills

In Brazil, biomass power in Sao Paulo state is expected to become more economically viable once the Morro Agudo substation under development by CPFL Energia comes online. The region is home to many sugarcane mills producing sugar and ethanol. The substation was recently awarded permission to buy and sell power for 30 years at an auction held by the regulator Aneel. The substation should be online in 32 months.
