UK ethanol producers using more wheat than expected

In the UK, DEFRA lowered its estimate for the country’s exportable wheat surplus following increased demand from local ethanol plants. Record domestic consumption is expected to reach 7.99 million metric tons. CropEnergies and Vivergo have a combined processing capacity of 2 million tons though both remain well below those levels. CropEnergies is currently running a 50/50 split with wheat and corn.
