Tim Searchinger goes after food vs fuel again in new report

January 29, 2015 |

In Washington, Tim Searchinger is yet again hitting out at biofuels, calling for policies supporting them to be phased out. His new report from the World Resources Institute says that biofuels would require all of the crops grown today to provide the biofuels needed for 2050. He says solar is a better energy source because it doesn’t need fertile land.

RFA’s Bob Dineen countered the report saying, “Providing a cursory update of a failed theory is not science and does nothing to enlighten the debate about biofuels. As passionate as he is in promoting his agenda, the truth cannot escape the fact that real-world data conclusively show reduced deforestation, reduced global hunger, and deceleration of cropland expansion during the biofuels era. “
