DoT analysis unreported from July predicts disaster for oil and ethanol rail transport

In Washington, a previously unreported analysis from the Dept. of Transport done in July estimates that as many as 10 oil and ethanol train derailments could occur annually during the next 20 years. The damage is seen at more than $4 billion with potentially hundreds of lives lost. During the 20-year period, 10 “higher consequence events” are estimated.
