Alexandria’s mayor dead set against ethanol rail expansion plans

March 23, 2015 |

In Virginia, Alexandria’s mayor is against Norfolk Southern’s plans to lengthen the trains carrying ethanol through the city. The company also plans to reconfigure its track layout and install stationary product transfer equipment, including spill containment, along with a truck rack. Its rail-to-truck ethanol transfer point will be moved one-quarter mile west.

“An industrial facility of this type does not belong in our community,” said Mayor William D. Euille.  “As we have for nearly a decade, we will continue to advocate for the safety and quality of life of our residents by not supporting the operation or expansion of this facility.”
