India’s ethanol blend at just 1.4% through February

In India, ethanol blending only reached 1.4% through February, down from 2% last year and only a third of the mandated 5% blend. In addition to the ongoing contract disputes between sugar mills and oil marketing companies, state levies on “import” ethanol from other states have become a major dampener to trade. The national sugar millers’ association has sent letters to all “importing” states asking them to drop the levies.
