EIA says 2014 biomass-based diesel imports fell 36%

March 25, 2015 |

In Washington, the Energy Information Agency says that imports of biomass-based biodiesel production fell 36% to 333 million gallons in 2014, partly due to Argentine exports not making their traditional mad dash to the US market at the end of the year as usual and the lack of clarity with the RFS. The expiration of the $1 per gallon blending credit at the end of 2013 also led to lower biodiesel demand in 2014.
